BS Bassi to be new Delhi Police chief

New Delhi: Bhim Sain Bassi, special commissioner of police (administration), will take over as the new Police Commissioner of Delhi on August 1.

According to an order issued on Tuesday, BS Bassi, an IPS officer of the 1977 batch, will succeed incumbent Neeraj Kumar who retires on July 31.

Earlier, Bassi was the director general of Goa Police, and was appointed as Special Commissioner(Traffic) in Delhi Police in 2011.

Born on February 20, 1956, he has served as special commissioner (vigilance), joint commissioner (southern range) and additional commissioner (northern range) of Delhi Police.

He will retire from service in February 2016.
