Delhi Rape: Juvenile accused's fate sealed, order on July 25

New Delhi, July 11: Fate of the juvenile accused in infamous December 16 Delhi gangrape case has been sealed by a local court in the national capital. Hearing the arguments of the defence and public prosecutor, the court on Thursday, July 11 reserved the order till July 25.

A juvenile court on July 5 concluded hearing the case of the accused who was 17 at the time of the crime and faces a maximum punishment of three years in a correctional facility if convicted.

The Juvenile Justice Board, thereafter, reserved its order in the case for July 11. It concluded the five-month inquiry against the juvenile who reportedly was the most brutal of all the accused persons.

The board also ended its probe in the case against the juvenile related to Ramadhar, a robbed carpenter who had an encounter with the accused ahead of the gangrape on that night.

The juvenile is a native of Uttar Pradesh and moved to the national capital as an 11-year-old to take up menial jobs.

Four other accused, Mukesh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur, are also being tried in a fast-track court. They have been accused of gangrape, unnatural sex, criminal conspiracy and robbery besides other sections of the IPC. The other, Ram Singh, was found hanging in Tihar Jail in March under mysterious conditions.

A 23-year-old paramedical Student was brutally raped and assaulted in a moving bus here in the night of December 16 last year. She died two weeks later in a hospital in Singapore.
