Finance Minister P Chidambaram's mother passes away

Bangalore, June7: Finance Minister P Chidambaram's mother Lakshmi Palaniappan, 92, passes away in Chennai.

Lakshmi Palaniappan had been under medication for her ailment for the past few weeks. She reportedly passed away of multiple organ failure.

She is survived by two sons, P Lakshmanan and P Chidambaram and a daughter.

The funeral will be held in the evening at the Mylapore crematorium, family sources said. Chidambaram is expected arrive in Chennai in the morning from New Delhi.

Her eyes have been donated to the well-known eye hospital Shankara Netralaya as she had desired, a family member told media.
