Cops want to seize Gurunath's mobiles, get 5 days custody

gurunath-arrested
Mumbai, May 25: Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan, was today sent to police custody for five days till May 29 by a Mumbai court.

During the hearing, Gurunath has told court that it is not justified on part of the Mumbai Police to seek his custody only to recover his mobile phones.

The Mumbai Police are saying that it has the call details of four phones of Meiyappan that reveal that Meiyappan used to place bets with the help of Jupiter and actor Vindu Dara Singh .

To connect their evidence with the source, the police want to seize Meiyappan's phones. They also want to investigate if any fake documents were used to procure SIM cards.

Gurunath was grilled by Mumbai crime branch for several hours following his arrest on Friday night in IPL betting scandal. He had been summoned by Mumbai Police for questioning after his name cropped up in the betting scandal following arrest of Vindu on May 21.

Meanwhile, Srinivasan, who was in Mumbai, did not meet his son-in-law and left for Kolkata where CSK will be facing Mumbai Indians for the IPL 6 finals on Sunday.
