Lucknow, May 19: A person, who was allegedly subjected to police atrocity inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh, died on Thursday, officials said.

It was learnt that the victim, identified as Balbir, a resident of Etah district was given injection of petrol and acid and was also mad to sit on a hot plate. The state police allegedly did this to Balbir, a murder suspect, to apparently extract his confession.

Balbir was admitted to King George Medical College here after his condition worsened and he died there.

Four policemen, including an ASI, were suspended on Friday afternoon in the connection to the incident. A probe was ordered, sources said.

Balbir and some others were detained by the police at Avagarh in Etah district a few days ago for allegedly killing a man on April 7. His family accused the police of torturing him for his confession. Balbir was also beaten up in the custody, the family alleged.

Balbir was first taken to a hospital in Etah but was later shifted to Lucknow.
