B'lore: Woman, battered by jilted lover, dies in hospital

Police suspect it to be a case of honour killing. The woman, Ramya G, a resident of Kamakshipalya, was found injured in a mango grove near Anekal on April 22. Police said Ramya and her jilted lover, Muniraju, 28, hailed from different castes.
The woman belonged to a poor family while Muniraju was from a decent background. Police also suspect that the man was assisted by three brothers in the killing.
The brothers are on the run. Muniraju had hanged himself from the ceiling fan.
Police said Muniraju's family was against the idea of wooing the girl. Hospital sources said that Ramya's family was reluctant to claim the body as a result of which, the post-mortem was delayed. Her vaginal swabs have been sent for forensic test to verify whether she was raped.
Muniraju had proposed to Ramya while she was an employee in his travel agency in Peenya. But the latter turned him down for he reportedly had a number of affairs in the past. Muniraju had to shut his agency later after suffering a huge loss but later employed Ramya again in a mobile shop, which he had opened near Kamakshipalya later.
On April 22, he had taken Ramya to a mango grove near Anekal where he believed to have proposed her again. But when she rejected him again, Muniraju allegedly smashed her head with a blunt object and strangled her with a veil. When Ramya fell unconscious, Muniraju assumed her to be dead and hanged himself after returning home. He had left a suicide note.
