Rajinikanth,TN film industry fast; ask justice for SL Tamils

In fact, the entire Tamil film industry, popularly known as Kollywood came together to express their solidarity with the Tamils of Sri Lanka on Tuesday, April 2 in Chennai. The actors, directors and technicians of Kollywood staged a day-long hunger strike to protest against the atrocities done on Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The film fraternity staged its protests at T Nagar in Chennai. Television news channels reported that a make-shift place had been arranged to accommodate the artistes who were staging the fast.
Because of the hunger strike, the entire film activity in Tamil Nadu came to a standstill as artistes, directors, producers, distributors and exhibitors are participating in the hunger-strike.
Noted film personalities of Kollywood, including South Indian Film Artistes' Association president R. Sarath Kumar, Ajith Kumar and Surya, are part of the agitation.
These personalities of the Tamil celluloid world are the latest to stage a protest over the issue, which has generated heat in the State in recent weeks with various sections of people, including students, taking to the streets.
Sarath Kumar, who is leading the protest, demanded that the Centre implement the resolution adopted by the Tamil Nadu Assembly recently demanding a referendum on separate Tamil Eelam and action against those who committed war crimes.
The protesters were likely to pass few resolutions later in the day on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
