Bitti Mohanty
Bangalore, March 18: Bitti Mohanty seems to have become a new headache for Indian police as cops from Kerala to Rajasthan, Orissa to Andhra Pradesh have been running here and there to crack his seven-year-old hide-and-seek game.

Bitti alias Raghav Rajan recently has been arrested from Kerala. He had raped a 26-year-old German woman in Rajasthan and was sentenced to 7-year-imprisonment.

However, he had jumped a 15-day parole and was on run since 2006. According to police sources, after leaving Rajasthan, he had taken refuge in Puttuparthy in Andhra Pradesh.

Bitti was said to have led a monastic life during his stay in Puttaparthi, the land of Satya Sai Baba. Like a typical Sai Baba devotee, Bitti used to flaunt a white attire and vermilion tilak on his forehead. Hence, he successfully had duped police.

Later he had managed to collect forged certificates and got admission in an MBA college in Kannur in Kerala. Finally, he acquired a job at State Bank of Trivancore (SBT). Surprisingly, Bitti aka Raghav escaped the legal formalities as he did not face any hurdle during the background verifications.

However, his game of dual life came to an end when a hand written letter, which is believed to have sent by his girlfriend's parents, reached to the bank management. The letter reportedly exposed the real identity of Bitti leading to his arrest by Kerala police.

Even after his arrest, Bitti did not reveal his identity, rather he was claiming that he was not a rape convict but Raghav Rajan, an employee of SBT.

Following Bitti's statement, he was taken to Rajasthan where he had gone under fingerprint test which indeed proved his reality. Meanwhile, Kerala police gathered evidence showing the reality of forged certificates submitted by Raghav.

At last his father BB Mohanty, former DGP of Orissa, identified his son through the photographs shown to him. Now, with all evidence of forged passport, IDs, educational certificates and fingerprint test report, the police finally seems to have nailed Bitti.
