Who killed Ram Singh in Tihar jail, why family cries foul
Ram Singh's postmortem report is expected to be submitted in Saket court on Thursday, March 14. The preliminary report claimed there were no external injury marks on his body and death was due to hanging.
However, Ram Singh's father had claimed that his son had faced tremendous torture inside the jail and he was sodomised by fellow prison inmates. He even claimed that he had seen 'injury marks on the body and finger marks on the throat.'
The father of the decease was quoted as saying, "He could not have committed suicide. My son was tortured and sodomised inside the jail."
Delhi Police also confirmed that some persons had conspired against Ram Singh and cited transcripts of phone coversations which "revealed the plot to kill the gangrape accused" on the way to the trial court.
The police said that several phone calls were found to have been made from inside the Tihar jail in Jan. "A jail inmate, who is accused in the murder of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan, was also reportedly using a cellphone from inside Tihar Jail and had made several calls to Delhi-based people," the police added.
Earlier Oneindia reported why it was difficult for 35-year-old Ram Singh to commit suicide. However, Tihar jail authorities and former inmates of the Ram Singh claimed that his alleged suicide did not surprise them.
