No bringing Ram Singh's body near colony warn neighbours
Neighbours said that the colony had already gotten a bad name and didn't want to further damage it's reputation.
After the suicide of the accused, neighbours got together and told Singh's father that his son's body should not be brought anywhere near their colony. "We had already made our wish clear to them soon after they returned from Tihar Jail after Ram Singh's suicide last afternoon,"Rahul, a local resident was quoted saying in Hindustan Times. He added, "But we had to be sure so we went and stated our objection categorically in the morning."
A group of residents got together and went to Singh's house. "I told him look, you know how we feel about the crime your son had committed and what impact it has had on our reputation as a colony. If you have any self respect left, don't force us to create a scene. There's no way his body will enter this colony again," a senior citizen was quoted saying.
Although Singh's father was upset, there was nothing much that he could do. He is said to have just kept quiet and not retaliated. "Alright, we won't ever show you our faces after leaving this place this time,"he said.
On Monday, Ram Singh, the main accused in the case was found hanging in Tihar jail. However, his family alleges foul play. Now they fear for their younger son, Mukesh who is also one of the accused in the same case.
Ram Singh, along with five other men brutally gang-raped and assaulted a 23-year-old paramedical student before throwing her out of a moving bus in the national capital on December 16, 2012. Later the victim died at a Singapore hospital on December 29, 2012
