Granite scam: Durai Dayanidhi surrenders in Madurai court
The court asked Dayanidhi to appear daily from Saturday onwards before Keezhavalavur police station near Melur till further orders.
It was this police station that had registered cases against him under various IPC sections, including 120(b) [criminal conspiracy], 447 (criminal trespass) and 420 (cheating), on charges of illegally quarrying on government land. He has been on the run since August following his involvement in the multi-crore scam.
Tamil Nadu Police had issued a notice for his lookout on August 31 and the immigration department had been asked to stop him from leaving the country. A total of 17 FIRs have been filed against eight companies in connection with the scam. Dayanidhi was the director of one of these companies, Olympus Granite. A total of 60 people have been named in the FIRs.
