Adarsh scam accused Gidwani dies of heart attack in Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 27: Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, one of the main accused in the Adarsh Housing Society scam, died of heart attack at the Breach Candy Hospital here on Tuesday. Gidwani, a former Congress MLC and promoter of Adarsh, was admitted to the hospital on Friday after suffering a second heart attack in four days.

Gidwani, who along with his family, own flats in the controversial housing society, was accused of paying Rs 1.25 crore to financial consultant JK jagiasi to influence CBI investigation into the Adarsh housing society scam. During interrogation, it was learnt that Jagiasi had sought a bribe of Rs 1.25 crore from Gidwani.

The scam involves a plot in Colaba in south Mumbai where a 31-storey building was constructed by the society, allegedly illegally.

Gidwani was out on a bail.
