Asha Bhosle's daughter Varsha commits suicide, shoots self

56-year-old Varsha shot herself with a licensed weapon, said Mumbai police. Reason behind her decision of ending life has not been revealed yet.
Earlier, she was admitted to hospital after she was found in an unconscious state when she had attempted to commit suicide in 2008.
Varsha, who worked as a journalist and a freelance writer with a well-known publishing house in Mumbai, had allegedly consumed high dose of sleeping pills. She had tried to end her life just a day after Asha Bhosle's 75th birthday bash. However, police officials had overruled all news saying that it was not a suicide attempt.
She stayed by herself in a locality same as her mother. Varsha was Asha's second child from her first husband Ganpatrao Bhosle.
Varsha had worked as a columnist for The Sunday Observer and Rediff. She had also worked as a playback singer in Hindi and Marathi movies and appeared in concerts with her mother.
