Bollywood hero Riteish Deshmukh fufills dad Vilasrao's dream
Earlier, Mr Vilasrao had been quoted as saying, "During my college days, I would often dream of becoming an actor. But those were different times when society and elders would admonish anybody seriously thinking of making a career in films."
"Earlier, I had my own identity as Vilasrao Deshmukh. But these days people walk up to me, shake hands and say, 'Look, here is Reitesh's father'," Mr Vilasrao, who passed away on Tuesday, Aug 14, had said.
After a prolonged illness over multiple organ failure, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Union Minister for Heavy Industries died at 1 pm on Tuesday.
The MD of Global Hospital also added, "In the last three days, he (Vilasrao) was reasonably stable. We could not get any organ (liver) for transplantation. Since last night, his condition started deteriorating very fast. We are sorry could not find liver (organ donor) on time."
During his treatment in the Chennai hospital, Riteish expressed his willingness to donate a part of his liver but the doctor said that a part of liver could not help Mr Vilasrao.
Mr Vilasrao's body on Wednesday reached his native village Babhalgaon where his cremation will be taken place. According to sources, seven lakh people are expected to attend Deshmukh's last rites.
Deshmukh's mortal remains would be consigned to flames around 4 pm at his farm at Babhalgaon, close to the place where his father Dagadojirao was cremated.
