Raja misled Manmohan Singh on 2G scam: CBI

In its first disposition before the JPC on Tuesday, the investigative agency revised its estimates for the loss inflicted on the exchequer by the allotment for the 2008 spectrum from Rs 22,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore.
While replying to the JPC's question on not investigating the role of Chidambaram who was the Finance Minister during the scam, the CBI said it did not find adequate evidence on the basis of which Chidambaram could be quizzed.
Official sources said the telecom scam cost the country Rs 1.76 lakh crores. The Opposition said it exposed the massive corruption that has maligned the UPA government and neither Singh nor Chidambaram could avoid responsibility by allowing Raja to continue with his policies through non-interference.
