2G case: Probe agencies to get info from Singapore

have assured India of providing important details related to some private entities in connection with the investigations into the

allocation case.

The development came after a team of ED and CBI investigators, led by ED Deputy Director Sharad Choudhary, recently visited the country and met the officials of Singapore's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) in order to take the probe forward.

A few private firms, according to sources, have invested and routed funds in this country just before they were allocated the 2G spectrum licences and the agencies are probing the money trail in this regard.

Both the probe agencies had gathered vital inputs on the investments and transactions made by certain telecom companies and real estate firms embroiled in the scam in Singapore and a Letter Rogatory (LR) was earlier sent in this regard.

Few details on holding patterns and investments made by various entities have bee gathered during the four-day visit while the rest would be sent later, sources said.

A money laundering case has been registered by the ED in this case and it has found that while few companies allegedly floated some subsidiaries in the country, some other investments in the 2G spectrum allocation case have been routed from here.

The joint team of investigators from both the agencies had earlier this year visited British Virgin Islands while they had also travelled to the UK, Isle of Man, Singapore and Cyprus last year with regard to their probe into the same case.
