AP: Violence rocks Kadapa ahead of Chiranjeevi's campaign

along with the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and Gulam Nabi Azad scheduled to kick-start their campaign in the region.

Chiranjeevi, the Andhra Pradesh CM and Gulam Nabi Azad will visit the constituency on Monday evening, sources informed.

The chaos started following a clash between the party workers of YSR Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Citing the massive agitation, police personnel were forced to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.

Both party workers allegedly pelted stones at each other when YSR Congress party men were barred from campaigning at Rayachoti, Kadapa which is going to vote for its representative to the state assembly on Jun 12.

The by-elections are going to be held following the shocking incident where the elected representatives for the posts switched his loyalty to the richest MP of the country - YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief of YSR Congress. The elected representative was a candidate of the Congress. The by-election will be held for 18 assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat.

Currently, Jagan Mohan Reddy has been lodged in Chanchalguda jail in Andhra Pradesh as he has been accused of involvement in corruption cases and he is expected to be released just a day ahead of the poll.

According to sources, the situation was taken under control as special police picket has been deployed at the constituency and residents are asked to remain at their homes. YSR Congress party workers, however, were sent away from the area.
