Petrol price hike: Delhi government reduces 20% VAT

New Delhi, May 28: The Delhi government on Monday reduced the VAT on petrol by 20% making petrol cheaper by Rs 1.30 in the city.

The revised price of petrol stands at Rs 71.36 per litre now.

Earlier, Sheila Dikshit government had hinted at cutting down taxes on petrol.

"We will see what we can do," said Dikshit on being asked whether the government will reduce VAT on petrol.

Petrol prices were hiked by Rs 7.50 per litre effective from midnight of May 23.
