Now Maoists reach Kerala forests

Maoists
Alapuzzha, May 2: The Kerala Police has received intelligence inputs on the possible presence of extremist elements in Kerala forests.

"It is suspected that extremist elements are present in the forests in Kerala. There could be groups having links with Maoists from states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha in state's forests," said Jacob Punnose, Director General of Police.

He said that there was no proof to prove their involvement in any extremist activity.

Meanwhile, KB Ganesh Kumar, State Forest Minister, said that forest areas are under surveillance following the intelligence reports hinting at the Maoists presence in Kerala.
