Kannadigas meet Sonia Gandhi in Tumkur

Bangalore, Apr 28: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday, Apr 28, who reached Tumkur district, is likely to attend the ceremony of the Siddaganga Mutt and visit the drought affected areas.

On Friday, Apr 27, G Parameshwara, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president went to HAL airport, Bangalore to receive Sonia, along with Siddaramaiah, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Union Ministers - KH Muniyappa and M Veerappa Moily, AICC general secretaries - Oscar Fernandes, Madhusudan Mistry and BK Hariprasad, and MLAs from the city.

Parameshwara on Thursday, Apr 26 said that there is no political intentions behind Sonia's visit to Siddaganga Mutt.

“It is her reverence for Siddaganga mutt seer Shivakumara Swamiji and the plight of the people in drought affected areas that is drawing Sonia Gandhi to Tumkur,” he added.
