Abdul Kalam failed to impress Lalu Prasad as India President

According to the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Vice President Hamid Ansari would be the best choice for the post. "Our Vice President Hamid Ansari should be made the President. He is a good candidate for the President's post. He should be upgraded as the President," said Lalu.
However, the former Bihar CM gave an explanation about his decision of not supporting Kalam. "Kalam has already been the President. Now Ansari should be made because he is an able person and his performance is also best in the Rajya Sabha," stated Lalu.
Meanwhile, former Uttar Pradesh CM and BSP chief, Mayawati commented, "It is too early to comment on it. Let the name of candidate be declared first and then only we will make our stand known."
Presidential election will be held in India in Jul 2012. The UPA government does not have requisite number of candidates to elect the President of India, hence it is dependent on other parties.
