Tamil television actress attempts suicide

Chennai, Apr 18: A Tamil TV actress' husband was arrested by the police for allegedly driving his wife to commit suicide.

32-year-old Arun was arrested by the Koyambedu police for allegedly torturing his wife Uma Maheswari.

"She had delivered a baby five months back. Arun and neighbours rescued and admitted her to hospital," said police.

The victim was staying at her parent's house after delivering a child.

"Arun, who is into selling computer parts, told his wife that he had met with an accident. She came rushing but found her husband all right. This resulted in a fight between the two following which she tried to kill herself," said the police.

Reports reveal that Arun suspected his wife of infidelity and also demanded gold from her house.
