Mumbai, Apr 4: After naming former Army Generals and other officials in the Adarsh Housing scam, the heat has now turned on three former Maharashtra Chief Ministers Ashok Chavan, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sushil Kumar Shinde on the massive corruption scandal that involves the Army.

The CBI that is investigating the matter has already arrested senior IAS officer Jairaj Pathak and former State Information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari on Tuesday. They will most likely be questioned on Wednesday. Whether more arrests will be carried out in the case remains to be seen.

The special CBI court hearing the scam will also decide on the bail pleas of seven others named in the scam. The seven accused were on Tuesday remanded to judicial custody till Apr 17. Ejaz Khan, special CBI prosecutor, in his argument seeking judicial custody stated that the investigation was moving forward based on the statements given by the accused while in police custody.

This led the court to decide to order remand for the accused namely MLC KL Gidwani, Maharashtra government bureaucrat Pradeep Vyas, Major General (Retd) TK Kaul, Major General (Retd) AR Kumar, Brigadier (Retd) MM Wanchoo, a retired defence estates officer RC Thakur and former Deputy Secretary in the Urban Department PV Deshmukh.
