UP:Akhilesh shuts down Mayawati's hospital at CM's residence

Lucknow, Mar 29: In a bid to create a good image in front of the people, the newly elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has permanently disbanded a luxury hospital established at the chief minister's residence by ex-CM Mayawati.

The hospital was set up by Mayawati's government in 2008 at Chief Minister's residence to provide emergency medical treatment as and when needed. The hospital had one superintendent, ten doctors and 20 paramedical staff. Besides this, hospital had four ambulances equipped with modern facilities, which were kept at standby to provide an emergency service.

The hospital incurred an expenditure of Rs 2.5 crore per annum since 2008. Meanwhile, Akhilesh has ordered state health ministry to close down the hospital in his residence and asked officials to post all the doctors and paramedical staff elsewhere. He also asked to deploy the ambulance in other hospitals to provide services to the common man. Meanwhile, only one physician and one ambulance will remain deployed at the Chief Minister's residence.

The state CM Akhilesh Yadav has also promised that his government would provide free medical treatment of serious ailments to the poor, which were discontinued by the Mayawati's government.
