Tamil Nadu:Youth meets MP IPS officer's fate, mowed to death

New Delhi, Mar 12: A 24-year-old youth was crushed down to death after a truck belonging to the sand mafia mowed him down in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu days after IPS officer Narendra Kumar met the same fate in Madhya Pradesh.

Sathees, the victim was killed after he along with other villagers tried stopping a lorry from taking sand illegally from their village, said police.

The villagers, fearing for their lives, fled after the gruesome incident took place, said police.

The lorry driver has been arrested and a murder case has been filed against the vehicle owner( a AIADMK councillor, Nanguneri panchayat) and the driver, said police.

In a similar incident that took place on Mar 8, an IPS officer was allegedly mowed down to death by the mining mafia after he tried to stop a vehicle from carrying stones.
