New Delhi, Mar 12: Amid talk of a possible realignment of regional parties for formation of a Third Front and possibility of mid-term elections, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, Mar 12 invited all the allies to a dinner on Tuesday night in his residence, said reports.

Reports said that dinner was originally scheduled to be held on Monday (today) but it has been postponed till tomorrow to build an unity among the allies.

It is learnt that the dinner by the Prime Minister for UPA allies comes in the backdrop of Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been continuously opposing some issues like forming of NCTC, FDI in retail with non-congress parties.

After Congress debacle in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab assembly elections, the speculation about a Third Front that would include TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has reached fever pitch. Parties like Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Naveen Patnaik's BJD have reportedly begun coveting Mamata's political support as leaders have begun contemplating the possibility of mid-term general elections.

Trinamool is the second largest constituent of UPA with 19 MPs in Lok Sabha. Banerjee was invited by SAD leader Parkash Singh Badal for the swearing-in ceremony on Mar 14 but later she denied to attend the event after Congress statement on the issue.
