Andhra Pradesh: Chiranjeevi's PRP formally merges with Cong

The development has come after Andhra Pradesh Speaker, Nadendla Manohar made a formal announcement on Monday in the House accepting the merger of PRP with the Congress under Para 4 of Schedule X of the Constitution and from now all 17 members of PRP will be recognised as Congress MLAs.
Earlier, on Feb last year, Congress had came with the offer of a merger with PRP and Chiranjeevi had immediately accepted the offer to fulfill his party goals.
The Election Commission of India has approved the two parties merger with completion of all formalities. But the official merger between the two parties has been accepted by the speaker on Monday only after leaders of both the parties handed over letters to the Speaker seeking to accept the merger.
As a part of merger deal, two legislators of PRP were inducted into the state Cabinet. Moreover, as per the promise made by the Congress during the merger, Chiranjeevi has to be nominated to Rajya Sabha in the biennial elections on Mar 30.
