Mamata's victory over Maoists, slain Kishenji aide surrenders

Maoists and Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, Mar 9: It can be termed as Mamata Banerjee's victory over the Maoists in India. Suchitra Mahato, one of the close aide of the slain Maoists chief, Kishenji, on Friday, Mar 9 surrendered before police.

Mamata Banerjee welcomed the move initiated by Mahato who was injured during the encounter in which Kishenji was killed. Mahato's husband - Sasadhar Mahato was also killed.

Mahato reportedly had played a key role during Silda massacre. According to sources, Mahato communicated through some mediators and tried to confirm about rehabilitation after surrender.

Mamata Banerjee might be very happy as she has been requesting the Maoists to leave the path of violence and to adopt the path of peace. It seems that the Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister finally stepped up in her struggle to bring the Maoists on the "right path."
