Relief for Raj Thackeray, Bombay HC quashes hate speech case

Mumbai, Feb 22: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray felt the relief after the Bombay High Court on Tuesday, Feb 22, has cancelled hate speech case filed against him.

In 2008, a case was filed against Raj Thackeray for delivering a hate speech against north Indians that allegedly intensified violence in Mumbai.

He had been accused for causing enmity between different communities of people.

While the MNS chief had appealed in the high court for quashing the case, claiming that Mumbai police had not taken mandatory sanction from the state government before taking action against him.
