UP Polls: Congress raps Mayawati for FIR against Rahul

Kanpur, Feb 21: The major political party, Congress on Tuesday, Feb 21 accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of being behind the FIR against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for breaching the election commission norms.

The Kanpur administration authorities approved for only 20 kms, but Rahul Gandhi violated it and stretched it beyond the permitted road map.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh was quoted as saying, "The action was taken on the direction of Mayawati as they are scared of the successful campaign by Rahul Gandhi. We will go to the high court for quashing the FIR registered against him for violating restrictions under Section 144."

"We have not received any notice from the Election Commission and as per the rules no permission is required for carrying out mass communication," he added.
