Karnataka Advocate General quits in Jaya DA case

Bangalore, Feb 9: Advocate General B V Acharya, Karnataka resigned from his post.

The step came after he was asked to quit from the Jayalalithaa Disproportionate Assets case.

According to Acharya, his resignation came after the BJP asked him to quit him citing differences.

Acharya resigned after a a public interest litigation (PIL) challenged him of holding two positions, one of the Advocate General and other the Special Public Prosecutor at the same time.

Acharya was assigned the role by the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.
