Mullaperiyar: Centre indifferent towards Tamil Nadu?

"The attempts on the part of Kerala to whip up mass fear and insecurity through false propaganda have been the primary cause of these (recent violent) incidents," Governor K Rosaiah said.
"Tamil Nadu is all for ensuring the safety of the dam and I earnestly appeal to the people of Kerala not to succumb to such malicious campaign," he said.
He further said that the state was determined to maintain a cordial relationship with Kerala.
"We also urge the Government of India to direct the Kerala government to abide by the decision of the Supreme Court," said the governor.
Rosaiah further said that TN would not compromise over their rights and would put up a fight till the end over the issue.
The Mullaperiyar issue has been a bone of contention between Kerala and Tamil Nadu since long. While Kerala is sticking to its stand that the dam would pose threat to the lives of many as it is located at a place prone to earthquake, Tamil Nadu is adamant that the water level of the dam be raised and the dam is absolutely safe.
