Another Bellary scam:Reddy's aide ditches jailed mining czar

Bangalore, Jan 30: It seems that Janardhana Reddy, who has been arrested over his alleged role in illegal mining scam in and around Bellary, has been ditched by his aide - K Mehfuz Ali Khan.

According to media reports, Ali, whose assets are worth Rs 250 crore, is believed to have made such huge amount of wealth mostly on sly. Ali, as the reports say, used to charge other miners a personal fee of Rs 2 per tonne to transport ore to ports. Surprisingly, sources said that the mining barons probably were unaware of Ali's secret personal dealings with the miners.

Sources have been quoted as saying, "The CBI believes Ali knows the secrets behind the mining scam as a key person in Reddy’s empire."

CBI, during a raid in Ali's residence in Bellary, had discovered a CD-disk which reportedly has data holding records of nearly 60 lakh tonnes of illegally mined iron ore.

However, since Reddy's arrest, Ali has been missing and the investigative agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started investigation to nab Ali.
