Bangalore: Software engineer dies at Kodaikanal

Bangalore, Jan 29: A Bangalore based software engineer died after he drowned in a stream of a resort where he was staying at Kodaikanal, Kerala.

30-year-old Chengappa along with his 28-year-old girlfriend Vinitha went to Kodaikanal to celebrate his birthday.

According to Vinitha, a dentist by profession, Chengappa died after he drowned in a stream near the cottage where they were staying in an when they were heavily under the infuence of alochol.

The police said that Chengappa went to Kodaikanal along with his girlfriend to celebrate his birthday on Jan 26. The couple rented a cottage at a resort in Pethuparai. Chengappa was found dead in Anjuveedu river and was rescued with the help of Vinitha and the hotel staff.

"The postmortem has confirmed that the youth had died due to drowning. The body has been handed over to the relatives of Chengappa," said a police officer.
