Wipro, Infosys to provide 35,000 jobs in Mamata's land

Kolkata, Jan 27: The country's biggest IT companies, Infosys and Wipro have decided to pump in nearly 2000 crores in IT and BPO projects which will create job opportunities for 35,000 in Kolkata by 2015.

Narayana Murthy's Infosys has decided to set up its maiden software campus in Kolkata, while Wipro is on its way to expand its campus in Kolkata.

Infosys is planning to invest around 1000 crores in a software venture that would create nearly 20,000 jobs. On the other hand, 800 crore will be invested by Wipro in its second software campus.

The state government have allotted 50 acres of land each to Wipro and Infosys in Rajarghat. Both the IT companies have already given Rs 1.5 crore per acre. Meanwhile, the West Bengal government is exploring maximum opportunities to transform the state into an IT hub.
