Mumbai-based Flyer to get Rs 1 lakh from Kingfisher
Jayant Mehta, the passenger who booked the tickets two months back faced monetary loss as the flight was cancelled at night before the departure. The incident occurred in Nov 2007.
After facing monetary loss, the family filed a complaint in the forum in April 2008. Mehta said that the airlines informed him at night before Nov 17 that the flight was cancelled. He asked for the next flight only know that it was two days later.
Then the family got the tickets of Nov 18, but they had to travel via Bangalore. Mehta paid Rs 25,047 from Kolkata to Bangalore and Rs 33,497 from Bangalore to Mumbai. Due to the cancellation, the family had to bear the loss of a huge amount.
Mehta lodged a complaint in the forum but didn't find any response, then he sent a legal notice to the airline.
The airline vindicated that the flight was cancelled due to some unavoidable circumstances. It denied any deficiency in services reasoning for the refusal to pay damages.
