After Jaya, Karuna, Tamil Nadu man checks money in Punjab

Punjab Election
Ludhiana, Jan 18: Tamil Nadu’s chief electoral officer, Pravin Kumar soon would be the chief man appointed by the election commission in checking floating of illegal money in Punjab ahead of the crucial assembly election 2012.

Pravin Kumar grabbed the powerful position after showing his extra-ordinary performance during Tamil Nadu assembly polls 2011 when AIADMK chief, Jayalalithaa and DMK supremo, M Karunanidhi were fighting to win the election.

Usha Sharma, Additional chief electoral officer, said that the election commission would utilise Pravin's experience of controlling illegal money, distribution of freebies and potential misuse of government machinery during election campaign.

Citing several reports that political parties are trying to buy votes with money, the election commission summoned the Tamil Nadu man to check illegal money in Punjab.
