Deadly mid-day meal, 60 Bangalore students hospitalised

Bangalore, Jan 13: Mid day meal in school turned deadly for some students in Bangalore as they were rushed to a near by hospital after consuming the food on Thursday, Jan 12. Almost 60 students were hospitalised and doctors feared that it might be a case of food poisoning.

Students of Class 7, 8 and 9th standard, who had the mid day meal served in the school on Thursday, were taken to the near by KC General Hospital in Malleswaram for treatment. Teachers started noticing the issue when many students started vomiting and began complaining about nausea and stomach pain.

The doctors of the hospital informed, "Many students were fine after being given oral medication and will be discharged after further examination." Teachers claimed that this incident was the first of its kind in the school over mid day meal.

Meanwhile, Dr R Mallikarjunaiah, Paediatrician informed that it was a mild case of infection and all students will be fine after proper medication. All students were kept under observation for 6-7 hours on Thursday and many of them were discharged the same day evening.
