Peace and tranquillity have returned to Assam: Lt Gen Gurung

"With the restoration of peace and tranquillity in the state, most of the extremists are eager to sit with the government for peace talks," GoC-in-C of Corps-4 Lt Gen Shakti Gurung said here when interacting with newspersons.
With change in the situation, Operation Rhino launched on January 25, 1990 has now been replaced by army's Operation Sadbhavana for winning the hearts and minds of people, Lt Gen Gurung, the commander of the anti-insurgency Unified Command Structure, said.
He said the forces under Unified Command Structure will continue to fight anti-social activities which disturb the peace and harmony of the people of Assam and North East.
