2G: A Raja to grill former aide Aseervatham Achary today
Achary had earlier spilled some startling facts on the 2G spectrum scam and how it was orchestrated by Raja intentionally. He is being considered the CBI's star witness and had claimed that Raja was in connection with the four other accused including DMK MP Kanimozhi and corporates Sanjay Chandra, Shahid Balwa and Vinod Goenka.
The special court that is hearing the case was adjourned for a week due to winter break.
Achary is testifying as the seventh prosecution witness and is firm on indicting Raja and the others. Achary had earlier raised eyebrows in court on Dec 22 when he claimed that there was a threat to his life. He had confessed to Special Judge OP Saini that a person present in the courtroom was threatening him.
The person, referred to by Achary was identified as Jai Prakash, who has been working as a peon with Reliance Power in Noida. He was later detained by the police and was released after thorough interrogation.
Raja rubbished all claims and called Achary's claims a "drama" and that it was a "planned" effort by the CBI to adversely impact co-accused RK Chandolia's bail plea that is due for hearing in the Supreme Court soon.
