Fun boat ride at Pulicat Lake,Chennai turns tragic; 22 dead

The victims were from different parts of Chennai with initial reports suggesting that the boats were operated by local fishermen. The rescue operations are underway with the services of two coast guard shifts pressed into action to fish out the dead bodies from the lake. Local fishermen, fire and rescue divers are also joining in the efforts.
Police have stated that the boat caught in waves leading to the tragedy. They also added that the area was banned for boating.
Those rescued are being treated for trauma following the tragic incident.
