Gujarat govt to discuss NHRC report on 2002 Godhra riots

According to the NHRC report, around 535 religious places of minority communities in around 16 districts had been damaged during the riots. Earlier, a non-governmental organisation had filed a petition demanding compensation for the damages caused to religious places of minority community post Godhra riots.
Meanwhile, the NHRC in its report has sought appropriate action on the basis of the report. The submitted report will now be tabled before the assembly in the coming Feb-Mar, 2012 budget session for discussion on various issues including compensation to religious places.
However, the government stated that compensation to religious places is a policy decision of the government and it will further discuss on the issue.
