Rajasthan clerk found spying for Pakistan, held
Sources said that Pawan was working at the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) office at Suratgarh town of the border district of Jaipur. Police said that he had been spying for Pakistan for about two years by passing strategic information about army exercises in the area.
Before carrying out any war exercise, army requires the permission of the district administration. The army authorities generally send applications requesting permission for any exercise to SDM office which comes under the district collector's jurisdiction.
Pawan allegedly used a mobile SIM card supplied by a Pakistan Telecom Company to give information to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence. He was booked under sections of the Official Secrets Act. He was under surveillance of state police's special operations group for a few days. Pawan will be produced before a court on Tuesday, Dec 20.
