Major fire breaks out at Kolkata factory
According to police sources, the huge fire entirely ravaged two floors of the factory. However, no casualties or injuries are reported so far. The fire was reported at 10.50 pm and the place was stacked with inflammable goods.
Fire brigade officials claimed that around 20 fire tenders reached the spot and are doing their job as the fire couldn't be controlled till early morning.
"Our men have managed to reach both the affected floors and the fire is now fully under control," said a fire brigade official.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee; Mukul Roy, Minister of State for Shipping; R K Panchnanda, Police Commissioner and Javed Khan, state Disaster Management Minister rushed to the spot after midnight to oversee the situation and instructed the firemen to take maximum possible measures to control the fire.
"The factory unit had no fire fighting arrangements. The department will take action against them for flouting rules," said Javed Khan. He expressed belief that the firefighters will control the situation shortly.
