Two youths held for raping, circulating MMS of girl

Mumbai, Dec 15: The Mumbai Police have arrested two school dropouts for allegedly raping a 14-year-old and making an MMS of her.

The accused, Paresh and Avinash were arrested from Indira Nagar slums, Jogeshwari.

The duo had forcibly taken the victim to their home and repeatedly raped her there. It was only after the MMS was doing rounds in the locality, the police was alerted about the incident by an anonymous person.

"The application stated that they learnt about the rape in October when they came across an MMS clip of the victim being circulated in the locality," said the police.

"It was a tough job to trace the accused and the victim as we did not have any detail," said Sub-Inspector S A Pawar.

"Initially the girl's family was even scared to lodge a complaint," he said.

The accused confessed to their crime after the police nabbed them.

"Their mobiles have been seized and sent to the forensic science laboratory. The two, booked for kidnap and rape, have been remanded in police custody till Thursday," said the police.
