Mullaperiyar row fails, Sabrimala revenue touches Rs 77.72cr

According to sources, the total revenue over the earnings of Lord Ayyappa temple has been calculated which shows a total revenue of Rs 77.72 crore during the period ended Dec 13, 2011. Last year, the total revenue was calculated at Rs 58.78 crore.
While last year's total collection from the hundi was Rs 21.65 crore, this year the collection increased to Rs 26.64 crore. Officials from the Ayyappa temple claimed that earning revenue increased following increase in the arrival of pilgrims during the ongoing season.
This report comes despite the news that pilgrims from Tamil Nadu had returned to their homes without visiting Sabrimala over the news of violence at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.
