CPI-M demands Govt to bring corporate sectors under Lokpal

"They (private companies) will have to brought under lokpal. They are looting the country like anything and they will be under the body," she said. "We should also focus on corruption in the corporate world. We should not forget the loot by the corporate world," Karat added.
The debate on Lokpal bill was organised at Jantar Mantar where social activist Anna Hazare was sitting on a symbolic one-day token fast protesting against the Parliamentary Standing Committee report on lokpal bill.
The CPI-M leader also criticised the govt for producing a weak Lokpal draft and asked why the govt is after NGOs while closing its eyes on big corporate houses. Pointing at 2G allocation scam and Karnataka illegal mining scam, Karat said that "licences and contracts achieved by private companies on the basis of corruption should be cancelled and the proposed Lokpal should have a power to do so."
