FDI: Congress to convince Trinamool chief Mamata before Wed

New Delhi, Dec 3: The Congress core group will reach out to its ally Trinamool's chief Mamata Banerjee once again on the FDI issue before Wednesday. The UPA government would take the final decision on FDI in retail in next week, claimed sources.

The FDI issue is being deferred after UPA government's largest ally, Tinamool Congress Party refused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's call for support on FDI. Mamata asserted that government must secure the farmers right first and then think about the policy.

"We are not going to support the government on this issue. There are some sensitive issues on which I have to take a stand. As a party also we have taken a call on not to support FDI in retail," she had said.
