CBI files chargesheet against Janardhana Reddy, Srinivasa

A chargesheet should be filed within a 90-day duration after any arrest in a case. Accordingly, CBI drafted a chargesheet that is running into thousands of pages a day before the mandated period. Former Karnataka minister G Janardhana Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy were arrested by CBI on Sept 5 for their alleged involvement in illegal mining in and around Bellary and Andhra Pradesh.
The latest arrest by CBI was OMC Director, D Rajshekharin, on Friday in connection with the illegal mining charges.
OMC is accused of breaching mining lease boundary lines of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh border area and illegal mining in Bellary Reserved Forest area.
Earlier an IAS officer, Yerra Srilakshmi, was granted bail by a local court on Friday, who was arrested for allegedly misusing her office in order to grant favours to a mining company held by Janardhan Reddy.
