Threat to President Patil's life? Cartridge found on route

New Delhi, Nov 29: An empty cartridge and two boxes found lying on EM Bypass in Kolkata raised security concerns hours before President Pratibha Patil's arrival here on a three-day visit to West Bengal.

The police immediately rushed to the spot and found that the cartridge was without bullet and the boxes were empty, said Jawed Shamim, Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters).

The articles were removed immediately and a security check was also conducted to ensure safetey as the VVIP convoy was to pass along the route.

President Patil, after her arrival was received by M K Narayanan, Governor, West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister, West Bengal at the NSCBI Airport.
